The Coastal Fire broke out Wednesday afternoon in Laguna Niguel, prompting the evacuation of nearby homes and a luxury resort and golf course, fire officials said.
As of 9 p.m., the fire had grown to 200 acres in windy and dry conditions, burning 20 homes. Another 100 homes were potentially in the fire’s path.
A temporary shelter was set up at Crown Valley Community Center on Crown Valley Parkway.

Homes in the Laguna Niguel neighborhood have an estimated value of $2.6 million all the way up to $9.99 million for a large estate on Vista Court, according to Zillow as of May 11. (See red dot on the map below.)
